National Express Showcase New Platinum Bus to The Platinum Group

IMG 0479National Express West Midlands, who are a member of The Platinum Group, joined fellow members of The Group to showcase their new luxurious bus, which is part of a new £4 million fleet that will give passengers extra leg room, free WiFi, high backed leather seats and next stop announcements as well as faster journeys.

Drivers will also wear suits and each route will have a dedicated manager who will be responsible for making sure that buses run on time and responding directly to customers' concerns.

The vehicles are ultra-low emission with Euro 6 engines and will reduce harmful emissions such as NOx by 75% and greatly reduce the carbon footprint.

The buses look completely different from other buses on the region’s roads. The new vehicles have an eye catching grey exterior with flashes of brilliant red – unlike anything currently on the roads of the West Midlands.

The buses are part of a record £34 million investment in 171 new vehicles by National Express West Midlands during 2015.
With another new bus arriving every day for the next few months, by September all 171 of the new vehicles will be carrying passengers across the West Midlands.

The Platinum Group, which is a network of committed leaders from strategically important businesses in the Black Country, met together for their Peer Group meeting at the new offices of Black Country Chamber of Commerce at the Creative Industries Centre at the University of Wolverhampton Science Park, where the bus was parked for The Platinum Group to see the investment that National Express have made in their new vehicles.

Gail Arnold, The Head of The Platinum Group said, “The Platinum Group is designed for senior business leaders within the high value manufacturing, automotive and logistics sector, with the emphasis in developing leadership skills, sharing best practice and working with like-minded people. National Express West Midlands are a great example of a business in the Black Country investing time and money.”

The aim of the Chamber is to double the size of the Black Country economy by 2023. The Black Country is the Industrial Heart of the UK and for us to grow the local economy we need to ensure that the development of local Chief Executives continues. Peer to peer learning will assist this economic progress across the region.
