Black Country Chamber Announces New Board of Directors

CP1 0229 Edit EditThe Black Country Chamber of Commerce has completed the last stages of a restructure planned by President Ninder Johal in 2014. Ninder Johal has overseen the evolution of the Chamber’s governance and the development of its long term strategy. In summarising the changes Ninder said: “No longer is Chamber member representation geographic; we now have a Consultative Forum to drive our policy agenda using pan-Black Country themes.

“Our Board of Directors needs to support our aim and once again we have replaced the geographic based approach with one based on skills needs. Our AGM in September approved the new members of the Board of Directors and they are: Geoff Layer, Vice-Chancellor, University of Wolverhampton. Geoff has strategic leadership responsibility for the delivery of the University’s initiative to generate £250 million of investment in economic growth in the region.

“Our second new Board Director is Julie Bevan, Wholesale Finance Director at A.F. Blakemore. Julie has expertise in defining, implementing and managing strategy and she recently qualified as a Six Sigma yellow belt to manage lean process projects to ensure efficiency.

“David John Williams, CEO Accura Group Ltd., is our third new Board Director and operates within the Oil & Gas, Auto and Aero sectors. David has held several leadership positions within GKN, Thyssen Krupp and Rolls Royce PLC.

“The fourth new Board Director is Simon Fisher, Member of the Executive Team at Midcounties Co-operative. Simon is Funeral Group General Manager and is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management.

“The fifth and final new Board Director is Adrian Donald Wright, Sales & Marketing Director at West Bromwich Albion Football Club. His main responsibilities are managing a multi-million pound commercial, marketing and brand building operation for the Premier League club.

“I am very proud of the new additions to our Board of Directors. They will join myself, Kevin Rogers (Vice President), David Roberts and Christine Thomas who joined the Board earlier this year. We can now face the challenges and opportunities of the future with the skills we need to effect transformational change.”
