Black Country Combined Authority Event

BCCCAG15 006The Black Country Chamber of Commerce is holding an event on 3rd November 2015 at Wolverhampton Racecourse to enable businesses to learn about the West Midlands Combined Authority. Black Country Chamber President, Ninder Johal, said: “Although the Combined Authority is in the final stages of negotiation with HM Treasury, there is still an opportunity to ensure that decision makers are listening to businesses. They need to know that any changes to business rates needs to come with a significant offer and without control over local transport and skills spending, local powers are not going to make the changes our businesses want.

“Bob Sleigh, Chair of the West Midlands Combined Authority, will be there to answer questions as will Keith Ireland, MD of Wolverhampton City Council, who has operational responsibility across the new arrangements. We also have Laura Shoaf, Director of the West Midlands Integrated Transport Authority, to tell us about what opportunities there may well be. After all, the changes in transport infrastructure we need are likely to improve our regional GVA by £2.5 billion.

“Stewart Towe will open the event and Mike Dell, Chair of our Devolution 2023 Group will Chair the event that starts at 07:30 and people can book using this link
“This is a ‘must attend’ event open to all businesses across the region. Come and shape the devolved powers agenda and make sure that decision makers understand what businesses need.”
