New Black Country Chamber Information Session on Employment Law

Tim LangBlack Country Chamber of Commerce have launched a new series of Information Session events that are run free of charge for Chamber members, and are delivered exclusively by Chamber members to help share the vast amount of knowledge and insight other members have. The first in this series will be held on Wednesday 20th January at the Molineux Stadium and will be delivered by the employment team at George Green LLP.

This enlightening event will help businesses to get a real insight into the world of employment law. This is of particular interest to HR managers and anyone who deals with staffing issues during their working day.

The employment team at George Green LLP will be presenting a review of the employment law highlights of 2015 including an update on where we currently stand with holiday pay, the ECJ decision on travelling time and recent decisions relating to whistleblowers.  The team will also take a look at what to expect in 2016 including the introduction of the National Living Wage.

The team will be joined by Minesh Trivedi of PAYE Matters Limited who is an employment tax consultant. Minesh will present a brief update on taxation of termination payments and employment status.

Tim Lang, Employment Law Partner at George Green LLP, commented: “We are delighted to be providing this informative session for Black Country Chamber members. It is important for businesses to keep updated on the latest employment laws and to understand the implications of the laws on their own company. We also think it is vital for Black Country Chamber members to share their knowledge and expertise with other members to help grow the local economy.”

Last year nearly 70 delegates attended the Mock Employment Law Tribunal case which George Green LLP presented to the Chamber members. This new session for 2016 is set to be as popular as previous events so booking early is essential. The Black Country Chamber of Commerce would like to thank George Green LLP for their continued support of the Chamber.

The Chamber Information Sessions will be held throughout the year and will have a different interesting topic area each time which will be delivered by a Black Country Chamber member. The Black Country Chamber of Commerce aims to double the size of the Black Country economy by 2023 and providing informative events like these are another way to help businesses grow and prosper.
