Mayor Visits Careers Fair

Mayor and UWR students Larger PictureThe Mayor of Bridgnorth recently took a trip to the University of Wolverhampton’s Telford Innovation Campus to see what jobs were on offer.

Mayor David Cooper met with each company and was eager to discuss and share his enthusiasm regarding the facilities available throughout the campus.

The fair welcomed over 600 students, as well as members of the public.

On display were a wide range of businesses, from hair and beauty to the emergency services, giving students plenty of choice for future career possibilities.

Students who attended the event were also excited to see the University’s Formula Renault car, saying how great it was to see something so interactive.

Final year Mechanical Engineering student and event attendee, Tom Owen said: “I thought the whole thing went really well. There were so many career options for students to choose from and we had a lot of interest in our approach to engineering.

“Meeting the Mayor of Bridgnorth and introducing him to the UWR race team was also a great experience.”

The key aim of the careers fair was to show visitors, student’s in-particular, the wide range of opportunities available to them, with the University hoping to inspire young students to think about a future in engineering.
