Legrand Snaps Up London Firm

Global electronics manufacturer Legrand, which has its UK head office in Birmingham, has acquired a 180-strong business in London.

CP Electronics is a £22.7m turnover supplier of energy efficient lighting controls which has been trading for more than four decades. It was backed by private equity firm Inflexion in 2014.

CP will form part of Legrand's newly created energy controls business unit and will be run by its current management team. The team will report to Tony Greig, chief executive of Birmingham-based Legrand Electric.

Catalyst Corporate Finance advised CP Electronics on the deal. The firm has a long-standing relationship with the business and advised on its original investment from Inflexion.

Managing partner Andy Currie said: "CP Electronics is a classic example of home grown advanced electrical engineering excellence in an exciting sector that combines energy efficiency and connectivity.

"It has been a genuine pleasure working with the company since 2012 having seen the management team, supported by Inflexion, successfully  grow  the  company  both  financially  and  from  a  market  position  and  product perspective.

"It is clear that Legrand is a great strategic partner for the company moving forwards and  I  have  every  confidence  that  CP  Electronics  will  continue  to  flourish  with  the  additional resources and market access that they bring."
