Birmingham-Produced Film to Screen at Light House Next Week

After packed houses in London, Birmingham and Manchester, new British film “Hard Time Bus” is premiering in Wolverhampton on Tuesday 16th August at Light House Media Centre in The Chubb Buildings. The screening will be followed with a Q&A with cast and crew.

Award-winning director, Dean Charles has teamed up once again with fellow Birmingham natives—writer, Owen Mowatt and actor, Neil Reidman for this feature-length directorial debut through his production company 2HOTFILMS.

The film stars Neil Reidman (The Big life, Casualty, The Detectorists), Naomi Ryan (Mr Selfridge, Guardians of the Galaxy, Guilt) and Roger Griffiths (Chef, Desmond’s, Death in Paradise).

‘Hard Time Bus’ is a multi-layered relationship drama that centres on the misadventures of a commitment-phobic everyman, Mark Bishop.

The film won ‘Best Feature’ at the Hollywood Black Film Festival, ‘Best Festival Film” at the MVSAs in Birmingham and was nominated in several categories including ‘Best Director, Best Leading Male and Best Screenplay’ at the American Black Film Festival in New York.

These accolades are especially significant as it is the first feature-length film for Birmingham-born filmmakers, Dean Charles (Director), Nicola Gregory (Producer), Neil Reidman (Actor) and Owen Mowatt (Writer).

“This film is for Birmingham”, says Charles, “We were all born and bred there and we are proud to be back. We are also looking at studio space to set up a base in the Midlands and in talks with investors”

Producer Nicola Gregory adds “As a company, we believe in the power of collaboration. Our aim is to create our own lane, negate stereotypes and forge a path for independent filmmakers in Britain."

Tickets are avaialble from Light House Box Office on 01902 716 055 or online via priced at £7.90 or £6.40 concessions. Under 25s and students are just £4.50
