Member of the Week - Black Country Chamber Support Export Success of Write Size Ltd

IMG 5672Black Country Chamber of Commerce is delighted with the success of their Member of the Week, Write Size Ltd. Member of the Week is a Black Country Chamber initiative to celebrate the great work that our members are doing and highlight the success stories in the local area.

Write Size Ltd is a Black Country based business that has created an innovative and revolutionary writing product for children to help make learning to write easier. Write Size writing pencils were developed four years ago by the Managing Director of Write Size, Ross Williams, from his own experience as he watched his young children struggling to learn to write with a tool which was not in proportion to their hand.

This member of the week was selected as a result of their exporting success. On attending the London Stationary Show with a prototype product they came away with a 10,000 stock order to New Zealand. Since then, they have exported to other areas such as UAE and the EU, which has been supported by the Black Country UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) Team. This new and innovative product has been supported by UKTI through attendance at a Dubai Show and access to contacts in other countries.

Write Size Ltd also recently appeared on BBC Dragons’ Den and are now looking to build on the positive reactions from many viewers to get the product out to more people. The team have also been honoured at the Small Business Sunday Awards, which are championed by former Dragon, Theo Paphitis. This has followed the achievement of securing Ryman Ltd, one of the leading stationary retailers in the UK, as a stockist of their product.

Ross Williams, Managing Director at Write Size Ltd, commented: “We are delighted with the support from Black Country Chamber of Commerce in helping us to progress so quickly with documentation and funding support. We have been members for just over a year and have found all the events and guidance an excellent avenue to grow our business. We are a passionate new business that wants to support children to learn to write through the use of our product.”

Black Country Chamber of Commerce wants to support businesses to grow and succeed. Our Member of the Week is an excellent example of how this is to be achieved. The Black Country is the Industrial Heart of the UK with many high quality and niche businesses working together to develop further to be market leaders.
