Helping Birmingham Children’s Hospital Reach for the Stars

IMG 1536 CopyLocal IT company ACUTEC challenged themselves to a Wolf Run to help raise funds for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity’s Star Appeal.

The Star Appeal is to help raise the money to build a centre for children with rare diseases. The centre will provide co-ordinated care, treatment and support for children battling with rare and undiagnosed illnesses.  It is a scary time for a child if they are ill and it is even scarier if you don’t know what is wrong.

ACUTEC raised over £500 for the charity through running 10km through woodland, mud and water in a Wolf Run. The team got stuck in and worked together to complete their challenge. Lee Thatcher, Business Development Manager at ACUTEC, who nominated the charity to receive the funds raised by the Wolf Run said ‘it’s well worth putting ourselves through this challenge if it means we can help the children at the hospital.’

In August, ACUTEC visited the hospital to present their donation in person to Regional Fundraiser Eloise Davidson as well as take a tour of the hospital and see how the funds raised are used to change children’s lives.

From roundabouts with disabled access to beds purpose made to weigh burnt children comfortably, Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity focuses on attention to detail to make sure that the children are as happy as possible despite the circumstances they may be in. Activities like Art Cart in A&E and Radio Lollipop where the children DJ the hospital’s music are in place to make sure they have the best experience.

Chris Roche, Managing Director of ACUTEC, said after the visit, ‘the thought that goes into the hospital is just phenomenal. What they do to make the children feel safe is just wonderful. I’m so glad we supported them with the Wolf Run.’
