South Staffs Operatic Company Look On The Bright Side Of Life With Monty Python Musical - Spamalot

SpamalotSouth Staffs Operatic Company will return to Wolverhampton Grand Theatre next year with Monty Python’s hit musical Spamalot from Tue 10 – Sat 14 October 2017.

Monty Python’s Spamalot, lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail, is a kind-of new musical with a book by Eric Idle and an entirely new score for the new production, (well, almost) created by Eric Idle and John Du Prez.

Spamalot tells the legendary tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table and features fantastic tunes more magical than a Camelot convention, including He Is Not Dead Yet, Knights of the Round Table, Find Your Grail and of course the Nation’s Favourite Comedy Song (Reader’s Digest Poll 2010 - before it went bust), Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life.

Alison Norton, chair of South Staffs Musical Theatre Company said: “Spamalot is a very brave choice of show for an amateur company, but we really want to offer every genre of theatre; from traditional musicals to outrageous comedies, to the new, progressive shows, in order to keep our audiences interested in our work and to appeal to all age groups. I would say come and watch Spamalot with a completely open mind.  It is silly, slapstick and deliciously daft!” she laughed.

“It is also a show with a largely male cast and so it will be a challenge to recruit some gentlemen into the company, which is an age old problem for amateur groups. But I think Monty ‘Pythonesque’ comedy will attract male performers from all over the area wanting to take part.”

“Spamalot will have you rolling in the aisles! And to quote a Python: “It’s funnier than the Black Death!”

Tickets for Spamalot are now on sale in person at the Box Office, by calling 01902 42 92 12 or online at
