College Shortlisted for Apprenticeship Award

Walsall College ApprenticeshipsWalsall College has been shortlisted for the 2017 Apprenticeships 4 England ‘College of the Year’ Award.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on 7th March 2017 at the annual The Voice of Apprenticeships Conference in London, which celebrates and honours the best in Apprenticeships in the lead up to National Apprenticeship Week (6th-10th March 2017).

The awards recognise training providers who have excelled in contributing to the development of apprenticeship programmes in England. They showcase and celebrate the achievements of organisations who have exceeded expectations and shown a dynamic approach to training, demonstrated initiative and enterprise, and shown a commitment to the improvement of quality and skills development in the delivery of apprenticeships.

Walsall College currently offers over 40 apprenticeship frameworks and has over 1300 apprentices enrolled on its programmes from level 2 (equivalent to GCSE) to level 5 (equivalent to HND) in addition to a traineeship offer.

James Norris, Assistant Principal for Commercial Development at Walsall College, commented: “We are delighted to have been shortlisted for this award as our apprenticeship provision is something we are very proud of. We work closely with employers and apprentices to ensure the right candidates are matched with the right vacancies to ensure they go on to become valued employees within the organisations.

“In 2015 we received the bronze award so this year we are confident with the strong growth we’ve experienced in this area that we can achieve the gold award.”
