West Midlands Mayoral Election is Coming. Be Part of History.

On 4th May 2017 the West Midlands will be holding its first ever Mayoral election.

Devolution will see more powers shift from Westminster to the West Midlands, with transport, skills, home and economic growth at the heart of the agenda.   The elected Mayor will chair a cabinet of West Midlands Leaders and work across the region to provide a louder voice for local people.

The Mayor will act as an ambassador to bring together businesses, public service and voluntary sectors to improve the productivity and prosperity of the region.

Our Mayor will:

  • Lobby on behalf of the West Midlands on the issues that matter to local people;
  • Have control over new long term budgets from central government;
  • Exercise powers to control local roads, implement transport investment, strategic planning, improve skills and invest in new homes;
  • Work with local business leaders to achieves what’s best for local jobs and the economy;
  • Capitalise on local strengths and assets like our universities, scientific research and innovation.

These is a historic election – make sure you’re part of it.

To vote you must live in Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall or Wolverhampton. You might already be registered to vote, however if you’re not you need to register by Thursday 13 April.
