Truckman Targets European Market Growth

Truckman European SalesTruckman, the UK’s leading manufacturer and supplier of 4x4 vehicle accessories, is aiming to boost its export activities, with a particular focus on the Northern European market.

The Dudley-based company, which manufacturers hardtops for pick-up trucks and distributes a range of associated vehicles accessories, has predominately focused on the UK market with around 10 percent of its business accounting for international sales.

However, the company aims to more than double its export activity by targeting countries including Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Sweden.

While the UK remains Europe’s largest pick-up truck market, the combined activity in Germany, France, Spain and Sweden equate to a similar size, which offers a significant opportunity for Truckman.

As a result, the company has appointed a dedicated, field-based European Sales Manager who will build relationships with distribution partners in these markets and the key Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMS) based on the continent.

Bert Hubrechts joins Truckman after five years with Netherlands-based vehicle accessory company Sammitr. Based in the Flemish-speaking region of Belgium, Bert is multi-lingual and a highly-experienced operator in the European motor sector.

Bert said: “British manufacturing is well-regarded in Europe and there is a real opportunity to grow Truckman’s presence in the market. I have been particularly impressed with the reputation Truckman has developed for the design, quality, and robust nature of its hardtops, which will be welcomed by European customers.

“Combined with Truckman’s ability to hold extensive levels of stock, which can be quickly and efficiently dispatched from the West Midlands to the continent, the company is well-placed to serve a growing European market.”
Mike Wheeler, Chairman of Truckman, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Bert to Truckman who will be a strong advocate for Truckman in Europe. We have enjoyed a relatively successful relationship with the European market, but we believe that following considerable investments in our manufacturing and stock-holding capabilities we are in a much stronger position to increase our export focus.

“We are also confident that the start of the Brexit process provides an opportunity for British manufacturers to get out there in the market and show their desire to trade with Europe and demonstrate the quality products and services we have to offer the market.”
