Celebrating International Women's Day

SWEDA recognise that women make up 52% of the UK population yet only 20% run and lead their own businesses. Why is that? What are the barriers? Research has shown some of the barriers include lack of networks, lack of role models and a lack of self- confidence & self belief. The 2017 focus is "Be Bold For Change”.

Access to Business, SWEDA and NatWest Bank together with over 50 women business owners celebrated International Women’s Day at The Ramada Park Hall Hotel in Wolverhampton on 8th March 2017.

This gave an opportunity for the Women to gain further information on the essential advice and guidance and support available to both start and grow their businesses.

The audience was inspired by a lively and informative panel of guest speakers, including Angela Bir, Owner of Ramada Park Hall Hotel, Julie Wall of 3degrees Social, Lisa Smith from Prepared PR, Natalie Cutler, Writer and Actor, and Sarah Ellen of Sarah Ellen Designs.

An invitation was given for the ladies enjoy a guided tour of the hotels facilities, followed by networking and a buffet lunch.

“I really cannot thank you enough for you patient guidance and support and the opportunities to exhibit my work. I gained knowledge, skills and confidence to make my business a success. The support from Access to Business was invaluable!”  (Vannette, 2016)
