Black Country Chamber Supports Increased Provision for Sandwell Businesses

Corin CraneBlack Country Chamber of Commerce is committed to increasing the provision for Sandwell businesses by supporting the new Sandwell Business Solutions Centre. This follows the official opening of the Centre that took place on 29th March, whereat local businesses were invited to look at the new facilities on offer.

The University of Wolverhampton, in partnership with Sandwell Council and Sandwell College, opened the new base for its Business Solutions Centre (BSC) in Sandwell. It is based on the national award winning BSC Centres already established in Wolverhampton, Telford, Hereford and Wyre Forest, the Sandwell Business Solutions Centre was originally set up in 2015 in the CAP Centre in Smethwick. The partnership has enabled the relocation to new larger premises at Sandwell College in Spon Lane, West Bromwich.

The Centre has dedicated business-facing staff from the university’s Business Support Team and the council’s Think Sandwell’s Business Growth Team, working in collaboration with Sandwell College and the Black Country Chamber. The staff will be able to offer support to local organisations and companies to grow their businesses as well as offering advice on how to access funding, business start-up help and how to access their expertise.
Corin Crane, Chief Executive of the Black Country Chamber of Commerce, commented: “As a Chamber, we are looking at more ways to increase the support for businesses in the Black Country and by having more of a local base we feel this will benefit our members as we can give on the ground advice.

“We are very supportive of the new Sandwell Business Solutions Centre and the innovative ways the new hub in West Bromwich will be able to develop businesses. We are looking at working closely with the local MPs and businesses to make the local economy thrive and prosper. We will have a relationship manager based at the Centre at times during the week and will be looking to hold a number of business events at the venue moving forward.”

Jan Britton, Chief Executive of Sandwell Council, said: “This new facility offers businesses in the region a single point of contact providing an all-round service. Not only can it help companies identify and address their individual business needs, but it’s also helping address the skills gap in the region and making a positive economic impact on Sandwell and the surrounding areas.”
