It’s Not Too Late to Exchange Your £5 Notes

Dudley Building Society has encouraged everyone not to panic in spending or exchanging their £5 notes by Friday, in readiness for The Bank of England withdrawing legal tender status of the old £5 note.

The Society with branches located in Brierley Hill, Gornal, Kingswinford, Perton and Dudley Town Centre will accept the old notes from anyone, whether they are a member of the Society or not within the coming weeks.

Head of Operations, Chris Collins, commented: "The deadline seems to have crept up on a number of people so we wanted to reassure everyone that we will be in a position to exchange old £5 notes for a number of weeks either by a direct swap in branch or by putting those spare fivers in to a savings account.  We aren’t stipulating that people need a Dudley Building Society account as we are more than happy to offer the service to the wider community."
