Locals Urged To Walk For A Great Cause

WFD 52Amelia is almost 2 and has a very complex condition called Mitochondria Disease which means that her small body is unable to produce its own energy and her cells don't repair themselves and function in the way that they should. Over time, her organs will begin to shut down completely. She will lose the ability to move, see, swallow, and eventually she will be unable to breathe. Amelia has spent a lot of her life so far in hospital undergoing treatments, but tragically there is no longer anything that can be done.

With her future so uncertain, Amelia's parents asked us to help fund a dream holiday for her and her big brother Anthony. The siblings had not spent a lot of time together due to Amelia's hospital admissions and this special holiday was the perfect opportunity for the pair to bond and create precious memories together while they still can. The family now have memories and photographs of their precious Amelia and her big brother that they will be able to keep forever.

This is just one example of how Promise Dreams can help incredibly brave children and their families. They also fund sensory equipment, house adaptations to make sure the child’s home is wheelchair accessible, specially adapted trikes so that the child can take part in family bike rides, and more.

Walk For Dreams is a 10 mile walk from Himley Hall to Wolverhampton Racecourse suitable for the whole family which takes place on Sunday 16th July 2017. It is completely free to enter but the more sponsorship you raise the more families Promise Dreams are able to help. Don’t miss the fantastic fun day at the end including inflatables, BBQ food, face painting, live music and more!
