Kind Hearted Staff Donate Over £1000 to Separate Charities

PhotoKind-hearted fundraisers at West Midlands Hospital have donated over £1,000 to two separate charities.

Over £600 has been raised for St Richard’s Hospice in Worcester and staff have also handed over £400 to Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust.

The cash was raised between July 2016 and June 2017 through a series of fundraising activities which included book sales, raffles, a quiz, a car wash and a Christmas jumper themed lunch.

St Richard’s Hospice in Worcester is an independent charity which cares for over 2,500 patients who have life limiting illnesses.

It also gives patients the best quality of life possible and supports family members and carers.

Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust provides information and support for people and their friends and family who are affected by cervical cancer.

It is the only UK charity which is dedicated to cervical cancer and cervical abnormalities.

West Midlands Hospital Matron Terri Burkett has praised staff for another excellent fundraising effort this year.

Terri said: “Every year we nominate a different charity or charities to donate money to from our fundraising activities.

“This year we chose Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and St Richard’s Hospice, charities which are both particularly close to our hearts.

“I’d like to say a big thanks to all our staff who have helped to raise a fantastic amount of cash for both charities.”

West Midlands Hospital also supports a number of other national fundraising initiatives each year such as the BBC Children in Need and Red Nose Day appeals.

The private hospital, based in Halesowen, is one of the leading private hospitals in the West Midlands and provides a full range of surgeries and services.

They include cosmetic surgery, hip and knee surgery, spine and neck care and eye surgery and patients can pay privately for their treatment and gain fast access to first class care.
