Black Country Chamber of Commerce Launch Transport & Infrastructure Campaign

Corin CraneBlack Country Chamber of Commerce are delighted to officially launch their Transport and Infrastructure Campaign, which aims to raise the awareness and profile of transport and infrastructure issues in the Black Country on a national scale. The launch of the campaign was marked with a special event at West Bromwich Albion FC that took place this morning (14th July), a significant day for the region due to it also being Black Country Day.

The event itself saw members of the regional business community come together to showcase their support for the campaign, whilst industry leaders and experts outlined the significance of the key campaign areas that the Black Country Chamber have committed to lobbying for.

The five key areas that have been identified for the campaign that the Black Country Chamber would like to see action on include: equal investment in infrastructure compared to other regions; better usage of the M6 Toll; greater investment in broadband infrastructure; support for HGV driver recruitment; and increased capacity for Birmingham Airport.

Corin Crane, Chief Executive of the Black Country Chamber of Commerce, commented: “The West Midlands is the heart of the UK, linking north and south, and the Black Country is essential to the success of the region. We produce vital products that are then distributed across the country and around the world, so a first-class transport and infrastructure base is key to the prosperity of the region.

“As a Chamber, we are taking action and have identified key areas where we believe we can help to influence change or raise the profile of the issue so that the Black Country can be competitive on an international scale. This is now the time for businesses to get involved and work with us to get the Midlands moving."
