A Grand Night of Networking for Brassed Off

Brassed Off Networking 24.8.17. Phot by Jonathan HipkissBlack Country Chamber Platinum Group member Wolverhampton Grand Theatre was a hub of activity on 24 August as the city’s businesses came together for a special networking event.

The evening combined relaxed networking with watching Brassed Off, the first in-house production by the Grand in over 40 years.

The event was sponsored by fellow Black Country Chamber members, Bridgnorth-based environmental consultancy Credibly Green and it was attended by more than 70 people and Chamber members including Lawrence Cleaning, Quiss Technology, Forces Recruitment Services, and Harco Engineering.

Based on a true story, Brassed Off is a funny and life-affirming tale of community spirit and triumph in the face of adversity. It’s 1994; and Danny’s lifelong ambition to lead Grimley Colliery Band to the National Brass Band Competition at the Royal Albert Hall looks like it might finally happen. But as Grimley pit faces closure, the future looks bleak as the town is thrown into conflict. Flugelhorn player Gloria arrives in town bringing with her a renewed sense of hope and a touch of romance, but no-one knows who she’s really playing for...

Networking events are a recent addition to the Grand’s calendar, following the theatre’s £1.2 million refurbishment last year, which saw a complete transformation of the Front of House and bar areas.

Charlotte Davies, Events Manager at the Grand Theatre said: “The Brassed Off networking event gave us an opportunity to celebrate this milestone for the Grand and celebrate the range of businesses operating in the West Midlands.

“The Grand Theatre is here to entertain and support the community and local enterprise.  As well as networking, there are advertising, sponsorship and room hire opportunities at the Grand: we are here to help you put your brand in the spotlight.”
