Indian Consultant Learns from Expert Cosmetic Surgeon

Indian Consultant Learns From Expert Cosmetic Surgeon 1A junior consultant from India visited West Midlands Hospital to observe a leading Cosmetic Surgeon in action.

Mr Senthilkumar Chandran spent a day working alongside Cosmetic Surgery expert Mr Mehboob Ali at the Halesowen-based private hospital.

He observed Mr Ali delivering different procedures in one of the hospital’s operating theatres and learnt more about the techniques he uses.

Mr Chandran works for the Sular branch of the Kovai Medical Centre Hospital in Coimbatore – a city in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

The Centre delivers a range of cosmetic surgeries and Mr Chandran is keen to offer Cosmetic Surgery there himself in the future.

Mr Chandran first linked up with Mr Ali when he was a trainee at the Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai where Mr Ali teaches plastic surgery.

He was keen to gain further experience in the UK and, as Cosmetic Surgery training isn’t available through the NHS, he is boosting his skills and knowledge by shadowing Mr Ali at West Midlands Hospital and Rowley Hall Hospital in Stafford.

This was Mr Chandran’s first visit to West Midlands Hospital but he will be returning to do more training in the future.

He has also been appointed to work at the Dudley Group NHS Foundation which is another exciting opportunity.

Mr Chandran said: “I am very grateful to Mr Ali for letting me come and observe his work at West Midlands Hospital.

“I am keen to learn more about Cosmetic Surgery in the UK so this was an excellent opportunity to work with a highly experienced surgeon.

“I am very impressed with West Midlands Hospital and the wonderful facilities and I’m looking forward to coming back to work with Mr Ali again.”

Mr Ali specialises in a full range of cosmetic surgeries including breast surgery (augmentation, uplifts, reduction), rhinoplasty (nose surgery), tummy tucks, and liposuction (fat removal).

He is also an expert in eye lid surgery, facial reconstructions and surgery for skin cancer.

Mr Ali said: “I was pleased that Mr Chandran was able to come and work with me at West Midlands Hospital.

“I am planning to develop links with other surgeons working at Ramsay Health Care hospitals up and down the country and highlight the range of surgeries I provide to international trainees.”
