One Million Steps for The Haven

One Million Steps for The Haven is back during October 2017 as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month! Join The Haven Wolverhampton for a family-friendly sponsored 5K walk on Saturday 7th October in partnership with Wolves Community Trust and sponsored by Concero.

Laura Cowley, Wolves Community Trust, commented: "Both Wolves and Wolves Community Trust, the official charity of Wolves, are pleased to support The Haven for the second year running. We understand the importance of the work they do in the city for both women and children and we are delighted to host an event that will be part of the impact for Domestic Violence awareness month. We are encouraging our supporters to sign up and take part with their families.”

The walk is a big part of helping to raise vital funds and awareness for local vulnerable women and children supported by the charity as well as taking part in a national campaign to ‘step out’ domestic abuse.

The Haven’s unique campaign sets an ambitious target of reaching one million steps during the entire month – started off with the community walk in partnership with Wolves. Each step taken by the charity’s supporters will help to raise awareness across the city and ultimately get them to the one million target.

Jade Secker, Senior Community Fundraiser at The Haven, said: “We are delighted to be bringing back One Million Steps for 2017. We have lots of exciting additions planned this year and are looking forward to welcoming back people who talk part last year as well as new walkers for 2017. We can’t combat abuse alone and we certainly can’t reach one million steps without your help so come along and join us on the 7th.”

We will be joined by Wolfie, a face-painter, Dicky Dodd and the Signal 107 team as we ‘step out’ on domestic abuse at the Molineux with the route heading off into West Park and up into the city centre. It’s just £4 for adults and £2 for children (free for under 4’s) to sign up and walk with us in October – dogs are welcome too!

Laura Cahill and her family have already registered to take part in the One Million Steps Campaign. She said: “We will be taking part to support The Haven and the great work they do to help women and children. We want to help raise awareness of domestic abuse & homelessness and help anyway we can. The step challenge helps motivate us as a family to keep moving and donate our steps to The Haven event.”
