Winning Moves to Play Central Role in Relaunching the UK Evaluation Society (UKES) Midlands Regional Network

Karl King and Michelle Hollier have joined the newly formed steering group for the UKES Midlands Regional Network, which will be relaunching in late 2017.

The UK Evaluation Society exists to promote and improve the theory, practice, understanding and utilisation of evaluation and its contribution to public knowledge, and to promote cross-sector and cross-disciplinary dialogue and debate.

The Midlands Regional Network – open to anyone in the region working in evaluation or with evaluation evidence – will promote UKES objectives at a regional level by providing:

  • A forum to debate and discuss evaluation theory and practice and disseminate evaluation findings;
  • Specialist training and professional development opportunities for evaluation practitioners;
  • Activities that raise the awareness and understanding of evaluation throughout the region;
  • Opportunities for evaluators to network and share ideas and experiences.

Rebecca Riley (City REDI, University of Birmingham), Tracey Wond (University of Derby) and George Bramley (Institute of Applied Health Research, University of Birmingham) will complete the team formulating a new programme of activities for the Network in 2018.

Karl, nominated as convener of the Network steering group, said “I’m delighted to be part of the team relaunching the UKES Midlands Regional Network. After such a long period of inactivity, I look forward very much to working with Michelle, Rebecca, Tracey and George over the coming months to create a vibrant new Network, tailored to the needs and interests of those in the region”.

To ensure the Network is fit for purpose, the steering group is currently seeking feedback from anyone working in evaluation or with evaluation evidence that would like to be involved.
