Inspiring Local Sportsman Celebrates Success with Local People

Dave Heeley, who is nicknamed Blind Dave, will be welcomed by Q3 Academies Trust for their Annual Sponsor’s Dinner on Wednesday 28th March 2018. ‘Blind Dave’ from West Bromwich, is this year’s guest speaker and will address the Sponsor, governors, staff, students, and local businesses at the event held at Q3 Academy Great Barr, Wilderness Lane. Each year, the Sponsor’s Dinner is attended by an inspiring personality to share an evening with Q3 Academy’s Post 16 students. Together, the Trust, students and local businesses celebrate achievement and are provided with an exclusive networking platform.

‘Blind Dave’ is the first blind person to complete the seven marathon challenge in 2008. He ran his first marathon in 2002 in London and crossing that finish line put him on the path to creating world records. In the past he has spoken to young people with a clear message: “If I can do these things, think what you can achieve”, a message fitting for the Academies’ Trust ethos, ‘To Seek for that which is good, that which is right, that which is true'.

Each year, guests have made generous contributions that have assisted with both the cost of the dinner and the development of new facilities on the Academy site. Guests are invited this year to help fund the RAF Detachment and the continued growth of the Cadet Force.
