Ludgate Finance Director, Richard Mason Runs the London Marathon for Birmingham Based Charity NICE

Marathon RichHaving completed last year’s Birmingham International Marathon, Richard decided that once was definitely enough. So, when the opportunity to take part in this year’s London Marathon came up - of course he said yes.

Running 26 and-a-bit miles is tough enough, but having gone through all their training through one of the roughest winters in years the runners now face the hottest predicted London marathon on record. Therefore, it is going to be a real challenge.

But it’s the challenges that people with movement disorders face each and every day that has inspired Richard to do his bit; adults and children with neurological motor disorders such as Parkinson’s, Cerebral Palsy, and stroke victims.

NICE (The National Institute for Conductive Education) offer dedicated services and training, viewing the person with movement disorders as a learner - someone who needs to learn new techniques and strategies to overcome the challenges the condition presents. Through structured teaching and learning programmes they open up new opportunities for equality and inclusion within society.

And they have our utmost respect.

Ludgate Finance salute all of the runners of course - they are all truly amazing - but look out for one in particular (number 53252), and if you can help him reach his £2500 target for such a worthy cause they’d be ever so grateful.
