Is This The Way To Wolverhampton?! Tony Christie Arrives in True Amarillo Style Ahead of Ladies’ Day Play!

Today, Wolverhampton Grand Theatre released a video of Tony Christie arriving in the city in true Amarillo style ahead of appearing in the hit play, Amanda Whittington’s Ladies’ Day at the theatre from Friday 13th - Saturday 28th July 2018.

Tony Christie’s songs have been used in productions of Ladies’ Day since it premiered in 2005 but this is the first time that Tony himself will take to the stage to feature in the production, singing some of his songs live during the play.

To reach the theatre, Tony started at Royston Blythe Hair Salon in Compton where celebrity hairdresser Royston pointed him in the direction of the theatre. Next Tony arrived at Wolverhampton Racecourse where the play is set. The play about four ladies on a day out to Ladies’ Day has been re-written by playwright Amanda Whittington exclusively for Wolverhampton Grand Theatre to bring the story closer to home. Tony made his way through the stables with Managing Director David Roberts before arriving at Molineux Stadium where Wolves mascot Wolfie helped Tony continue his journey.

Tony arrived at the Man On The ‘Oss statue where he met the Fizzog’s Dancing Grannies who finally showed him the way to the theatre. On arriving at the theatre, Wolves and England legend Steve Bull was waiting for Tony with a record to sign. Tony was greeted by a huge crowd of guests before making it onto stage to meet the cast of the play which includes Cheryl Fergison, Deena Payne, Emma Rigby, Roisin O’Neill and Sean McKenzie.

Ladies’ Day is produced in association with Wolverhampton Racecourse and with media partner Free Radio.
