About this event
Do you understand Free Trade Agreements and how they impact your import and export business? Are you aware of the preference and non-preference Rules of Origin and how they apply?
Do you know how to check the preference origin of your goods using the Tariff Classification?
As an international trader it is your responsibility to ensure that the rules of origin have been followed correctly. According to the rules of origin, when importing or exporting products between countries with which the UK has a Free Trade Agreement with, traders may enjoy preferential tariff rates providing their products have sufficient UK content.
The rules for the UK/EU FTA may also be different to other Free Trade Agreements around the world.
International traders should therefore be looking at their own supply chains to establish what rules may apply.
With practical exercises, this essential guide will ensure delegates have a comprehensive understanding of this important area of international trade.
Outcomes:
- How to check the origin rule for your products using the tariff heading
- Understand what the different rules of origin are
- How to apply the free trade agreement and what evidence is needed such as supplier declarations
- How the information is recorded at Export and Import
- Understand the Checks that HMRC may carry out
