OPENING UP THE US/UK TRADING RELATIONSHIP – IN CONVERSATION WITH THE RT HON GREG HANDS MP
Friday 5 June 2019 | 2:30pm – 3:30pm
Rebooting and restarting the Black Country powerful exporting base is key to the region’s prospects as we ease our way out of COVID-19 lockdown and prepare for the end of the Brexit transition period later this year.
As the manufacturing heartland of the UK, the West Midlands has maintained a trade surplus with the United States for many years. 1 in 5 of our exports go to the US with over £12,000 of goods exported to the States every minute.
The UK and US governments have set out their ambitions for a free trade deal to be agreed in principle, meaning an end to tariffs, making it easier for more businesses to export to America and open up new customer markets. The Black Country’s blend of manufacturing and professional services makes it is one of the best-placed regions in the country to benefit from a US-UK Free Trade Deal.
We are delighted to work with the Member of Parliament for Dudley North, Marco Longhi MP, to offer businesses the opportunity to hear from the Rt Hon Greg Hands MP, Minister of State for Trade Policy.
As the region’s leading business support agency our ethos is, and has always been, that business is done together.
There has never been a more important time for businesses to connect with political influencers, decision makers and leaders and our series of virtual events with high profile figures, will enable our Chamber members to do just that.
