Vice-Chancellor Prof. Geoff Layer invites you to the inaugural DLA Piper annual lecture, by Sandra Wallace. Sandra is Pro-Chancellor for Social Mobility at the University of Wolverhampton, Managing Director (UK and Europe) of DLA Piper, and interim co-chair of the government’s Social Mobility Commission.

It is both important and timely to make the case for the wider involvement of the business community and its legal advisers in advancing social mobility. Social mobility is not just an idea, or even a vision. It embraces real-life opportunities for all young people, helping them to deploy their talents to the best possible effect. Everyone should have the opportunity to fulfil their ambitions, regardless of race, gender, colour, or social background.

Sandra’s story exemplifies all that is possible. At the top of the legal profession, she is also passionately committed to the message and practice of social mobility as commissioner and interim co-chair of the Social Mobility Commission.
