In these different and possibly difficult times, managing staff comes with added complications and pressures. Managing these situations effectively and compassionately can be challenging and leave us feeling unsure if we have the skills to do this and still get the best outcome. This webinar will look at how you can ensure that you have a productive and supportive conversation with colleagues.
We will develop an understanding of why we are reluctant to engage in the emotional part of a conversation and understand why it is an important and necessary part of supporting colleagues. The session will cover strategies and tools for overcoming this reluctance, approaches to help us listen more effectively, acknowledge any emotions and understand when to offer solutions and when to just listen.
Speaker: Nicky Adams is a Senior Lecturer in HR and Leadership at the University of Wolverhampton Business School. Prior to joining the University, Nicky worked in customer services management and has run her own Learning & Development consultancy providing learning, development, coaching and mentoring for individuals in organisations large and small in the public, private and third sectors. She has also designed and delivered training and mentoring within Samaritans and externally for them. She has been a listening volunteer for over 25 years and held a range of local, regional and organisation-wide roles.
