Apprentices get the star treatment

It’s time to put apprentices in the spotlight with an awards ceremony dedicated to focusing on the incredible contribution they make to businesses across the region.

The Ladder for the Black Country Apprenticeship Awards 2022 is a chance for employers to pay tribute to the best apprentices at companies in the Black Country, Wolverhampton and Staffordshire.

The awards are created by the Express & Star in partnership with Ladder for the Black Country and headline sponsors City of Wolverhampton Council. With 11 award categories the entries are flooding in – but apprentices and businesses have to be quick to register before the closing date on September 11th.

Express & Star editor-in-chief Martin Wright said: “These awards are a celebration of those amazing apprentices that prove to us time and again what an important contribution they make to a wide range of businesses and organisations. They will also highlight those organisations finding new ways to drive aspiration and education through their apprenticeship programmes.”

The award categories are: Construction and Property, Engineering and Manufacturing, Health, Education & Care, Professional Business Services, Tech, Digital and Creative Industries, Hospitality, Retail, Leisure and Travel, Education and Engagement Employer of the Year, Large Employer of the Year (250+), Medium Employer of the Year (51-249), Small Employer of the Year (1-50), Training Provider of the Year.

Once entries have closed and the judging has taken place the competition will culminate in a presentation evening at Wolverhampton’s elegant Grand Station. The Ladder for the Black Country Apprenticeship Awards 2022 is open to any apprentice or organisation that is based locally in and around Wolverhampton, the Black Country and Staffordshire region, reflecting the Express & Star circulation area.

The Express & Star ‘Overall Apprentice of the Year 2022’ will be chosen from one of the six Apprentice of the Year categories by representatives of our headline sponsor, Wolverhampton City Council.
