Lifesaving charity Arrive Alive has been recognised as Charity of the Year at the 2024 Birmingham awards.

This event was all about celebrating the incredible achievements of Brummies and Birmingham based organisations, with over 800 nominations and 180 finalists across various categories. A total of 22 winners were acknowledged during the event following over 100,000 public votes.

The prestigious awards ceremony was organised by Anita Chumber and Ifraz Ahmed, who aimed to highlight the achievements of local organisations and individuals, the Birmingham Awards is now in its ninth year. Hosted by the 2018 Brummie of the year PJ Ellis, the evening reflected the incredible spirit of Birmingham. Debbie Roscoe, the founder of Arrive Alive, was presented with the award from Tim Andrews MBE of Hollywood Monster, the award category sponsor.

Arrive Alive is the UK’s only independent registered charity dedicated to funding lifesaving vehicles and equipment for Community First Responders. Founded by a Birmingham based Mother Debbie Roscoe following her youngest daughter’s health battles. The charity has made progress in supporting medically trained volunteers who respond to urgent 999 calls. Debbie’s efforts have led to the funding of thirteen voluntary operated lifesaving vehicles in under seven years, with further plans underway for more lifesaving resources within communities across the region. The charity relies entirely on public donations to sustain its lifesaving work. Every contribution, regardless of size, plays a vital role in helping Arrive Alive to save more lives within communities across the region.

Reflecting on the achievements of the evening, Debbie Roscoe expressed gratitude, “This award is not just for Arrive Alive, but for every volunteer and supporter who supports Arrive Alive. Together, we can continue to make a difference in our communities. I cannot thank everyone enough who has supported Arrive Alive so far. Arrive Alive is incredibly personal to myself and became established as a result of my youngest daughter’s health battles. The awards evening was certainly a night to remember congratulations to all of the incredible finalists and winners at the awards. A special congratulations to Edwin Ladd and Nitisha Patel on their engagement which also took place at the awards evening. I would personally like to thank Anita and Ifraz for their wonderful hospitality, it was a very enjoyable evening.”

As Arrive Alive looks ahead, plans for additional fundraising initiatives and events are underway. The charity remains committed to expanding its reach and ensuring that more communities have access to lifesaving resources. With ongoing public and local business support, Arrive Alive aims to enhance its support. The Birmingham awards ceremony was a celebration of the efforts made by individuals and organisations to uplift the community.

Arrive Alive’s recognition as Charity of the Year underscores the importance of community engagement in lifesaving initiatives. To find out more about the inspiring story behind Arrive Alive or to support the lifesaving work visit www.arrivealiveresponse.co.uk.
