Black Country Chamber apprentice in the running for apprenticeship award

A Black Country Chamber of Commerce apprentice has been named as a finalist for a prestigious apprenticeship award.

Content Creator Apprentice Owenia Francis is in the running for Apprentice of the Year in the Tech, Digital and Creative Industries category at this year’s Express & Star Apprenticeship Awards.

Owenia, who joined the Black Country Chamber of Commerce in September 2023 through the BBC Apprentice Hub and Bauer Academy apprenticeship programme is responsible for delivering engaging content across the Chamber’s social media accounts and newsletters.

The awards, which will be announced at a glittering ceremony at West Bromwich Albion’s The Hawthorns Stadium on November 13, will celebrate the brightest and best organisations and learners in the region.

Black Country Chamber of Commerce CEO Sarah Moorhouse commented: “We see the benefits of offering young people with apprenticeships to build on-the-job skills and experience.

“Congratulations to Owenia, she is a fantastic role model for apprenticeships bringing her creative spark and enthusiasm for new ideas to her role.”

Owenia added: “I’m delighted to be named as a finalist. The apprenticeship programme has given me the opportunity to say yes to new experiences and increase my business knowledge.”
