Celebrating 10 Years of Coaching Excellence: A Journey of Growth and Impact

This month marks an incredibly special milestone– Jessica Shields Coaching Ltd is celebrating its 10th anniversary. As Jess reflects on the past decade, she shares her learning.
“I am filled with gratitude and pride for the work I’ve been able to do, the people I’ve met, and the lives I’ve had the privilege of helping transform.
My journey into coaching began during my time at university, where I was studying Counselling Psychology. It was there that I first discovered the power of coaching. I realised that coaching was about helping individuals unlock their full potential, with the science of Psychology behind the theories, tools and techniques, which truly piqued my interest. I knew then that this was the path I wanted to pursue, and I’ve never looked back.
Upon graduating, I was determined to turn my passion into a profession. With a deep commitment to helping others, I took the leap and set up my own business, and the rest, as they say, is history. The early days were challenging, but I was fortunate to receive invaluable support. I attended a fantastic business startup course through The Prince's Trust, which gave me the tools and guidance I needed to navigate the multi-facets of a business.
My work started with schools and colleges, where I had the chance to work with young people to help them build confidence, develop leadership skills, and unlock their potential. These early experiences were foundational in shaping my approach to coaching, and they instilled in me a deep appreciation for the impact that tailored coaching can have on someone’s life.
In addition to working with schools and colleges, I also had the privilege of serving as an associate coach for a charity that worked with offenders (Coaching Inside And Out). It was here that I learned the true power of second chances and the transformative impact coaching can have on individuals who are striving to rebuild their lives. This work solidified my belief that coaching is not just for those already in positions of power or privilege; it’s for anyone looking to better themselves and make meaningful change.
Over the years, I’ve shifted my focus toward working with leaders and managers. These individuals are often juggling multiple responsibilities, facing complex challenges, and navigating constant change. My mission has always been to help them become more effective, resilient, and emotionally intelligent leaders, who can inspire and empower their teams to achieve great things.
Throughout my journey, one thing has remained constant: the intention of every individual I’ve worked with has been the same—to better themselves. Whether it's in their career, their personal lives, or both, every person I’ve had the privilege of coaching has sought growth, self-improvement, and a deeper understanding of who they are and what they can achieve.
Reflecting on the past 10 years, I feel incredibly lucky to have discovered coaching right at the beginning of my working adult life and to have had the dedication to pursue it as a business. I’ve learned so much not only from the incredible people I’ve worked with but also from my mentors, supervisors, and the business friends I’ve made along the way (many of whom I’ve connected with through the Chamber!). Their support, insights, and encouragement have been invaluable in helping me evolve both as a coach and as a business owner.
As I look to the future, I am filled with excitement for what’s next. I am passionate about continuing to deliver exceptional coaching programs and training sessions that create lasting impact for everyone I work with. I remain committed to helping individuals and organisations unlock their potential, face their challenges with confidence, and achieve the success they deserve. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this incredible journey. Here’s to the next chapter of growth, learning, and positive change!”
