A vital resource for families navigating some of life’s most difficult moments.

We are extremely grateful to BBC Children in Need, who awarded funding to support the service. Lusia Coombes, our Children and Young People’s Support Worker, said: “It’s important for children and young people who are experiencing the loss of a loved one to have space to grieve, and also celebrate their loved ones in a safe, secure and friendly environment.”

The service offers regular events aimed at supporting the emotional well-being of children and young people during a challenging time in their lives. Last year the service supported nearly 200 children and young people, along with their families, through the events.

In addition, 57 one-to-one emotional support sessions were delivered, both in schools and at Compton sites.

One parent shared: “The sessions for the children have been great, they have been really creative and made some fantastic things. It's really helped them to just relax and spend a couple of hours being creative and free to express themselves.” Our Children and Young People’s service is available for young members of our patients’ families who have a loved one being cared for by Compton or who have experienced a bereavement.
