Meet Emma Nicholls, one of our dynamic Procurement Team Leaders in the Client Relationship Management team. Emma's journey to her current role is a testament to her adaptability, ambition, and commitment to professional growth.
Emma started her working career in retail for four years to realise she wanted a change of sector completely to be able to put her customer service skills to use somewhere else.
In 2015, Emma began her career in the energy industry as an Energy Auditor with another Third-Party Intermediary (TPI). Her role initially focused on data entry of invoices, but Emma’s determination and skill quickly propelled her through the ranks. After successfully transitioning from an Account Manager to an Executive Relationship Manager, Emma realised she needed a change. This led her to the Client Relationship Manager - Procurement Specialist position at Control Energy Costs in July 2023. By April 2024, her hard work and leadership earned her the role of Client Relationship Manager – Procurement Team Leader.
Emma’s daily routine is both diverse and fulfilling. Her primary responsibility involves managing a growing portfolio of clients, overseeing their supply contracts, and addressing any queries they might have. Her role as a Team Leader adds an additional layer of responsibility, as she ensures that her team meets their targets and business measures. Emma and her fellow Team Leaders also provide crucial support to the Client Relationship Director, tackling a range of tasks to ensure the smooth operation of their department.
“The best part of my job is the variety. Every day is different because I’m constantly interacting with different clients and resolving a range of issues. Working with my team to meet our targets and achieve our goals is incredibly rewarding.”
-Emma Nicholls
While Emma thrives in her role, it’s not without its challenges. One of her main challenges is retaining clients amidst fierce competition. Control Energy Costs is often up against competitors who promise the moon to win business but don’t always deliver. She must maintain strong relationships and prove Control Energy Costs’ value to keep clients loyal.
As for her future at Control Energy Costs, Emma remains focused on her current role. She’s committed to continuing the hard work and achieving her team’s goals.
Emma’s role at Control Energy Costs reflects a blend of dedication, problem-solving, and enthusiasm. Her career trajectory paints a picture of someone who is professionally driven, making her an invaluable asset to her team and a source of inspiration for those around her.
