As part of Women in Engineering Week, Pertemps is launching an exciting initiative to help tackle the underrepresentation of female engineers.

One key part of this initiative is the release of a “Girls Can Engineer” children’s book, aimed at inspiring girls aged 7–9 to explore careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

While women make up nearly half of the UK workforce, they account for just 16.5% of engineers. Our goal is to address this imbalance by creating a high-quality, visually engaging STEM book that combines educational content, interactive experiments, fun facts, and real-life role models to make STEM both accessible and exciting

You can view the digital copy of our book here: https://link.edgepilot.com/s/05caa902/lvtsnYh3uEW1nRhNa6I7mA?u=https://view.pagetiger.com/girls-can-engineer-storybook

Physical copies of the book will be shared with schools in our communities over coming weeks.

In addition to the book, we’re launching a podcast series during the week, featuring interviews with female engineers actively working in the sector. While the book focuses on early inspiration, the podcast is designed to support older students and career changers by showcasing real stories from women in engineering.

I’m reaching out to likeminded individuals and businesses who share a passion to close the gender gap in STEM, to partner with us by supporting in the following areas:

  • Are there any female engineers within the business who may be open to participating in one of our podcasts?
  • Are you connected with any local primary schools, who may be interested in receiving copies of our book?
  • Are there any other ways in which we can support you/your business with promoting your EDI goals?

I look forward to hearing from you soon, if you require any further information in the meantime please do not hesitate to reach out!
