High Rise Safety Campaign Receives National Recognition

whg’s Project High Rise has been named a winner in Inside Housing’s best Resident Safety Campaign competition.

 

A Walsall safety campaign that addressed the safety concerns of people living in high rise blocks has received national recognition.

 

whg’s Project High Rise has been named a winner in Inside Housing’s best Resident Safety Campaign competition.

 

The leading Midland’s landlord impressed judges for its campaign, which aimed to ensure that high rise dwellers felt safe and secure in their homes.

 

As part of the project, whg carried out visits to all 17 of its high rise blocks, with West Midlands Fire Service also providing fire safety advice.

In February, senior fire service personnel joined whg directors in a week long initiative to visit all blocks to walk every area and inspect every cupboard, bin area, roof, lift plant rooms and communal areas, meeting residents while they were there.

Paul Dockerill, Director of Energy and Programme Management, said: “Project High Rise has had a huge impact on the quality of life for customers in tower blocks, with 88% saying they felt safe where they lived 12 months into the campaign – a 6% increase from the previous year’s figures.

“We are delighted with our success in this competition and look forward to sharing our experiences on how best to engage with residents and promote fire safety.

The competition was organised by trade magazine Inside Housing as part of a campaign with fire and carbon monoxide alarm specialist Aico to promote best practice in resident safety.
