I Never Thought I'd Say This......

I never thought I’d say this, but I could really get used to this working from home malarky.

I won’t lie - at first, things were really tough.

Trying to get my work done at the kitchen table with the usual family chaos going on all around me was hard.

But it’s been a few weeks now and I’ve really found my flow.

I’m loving no commute and having all my creature comforts around me while I work. I’m more productive, more focused and able to crack on with the “big picture” tasks in the business.

It’s been such a positive experience for me that, when lockdown is lifted, I’m going to keep working from home a couple of times a week.

My team are great. They’re on the ball and definitely don’t need me there looking over their shoulder all day.

I’m going to make some home improvements to make my work from home experience even better.

I can’t quite decide between converting the garage or getting one of those garden office buildings but either way, as soon as lockdown is lifted I’ll have the builders in and my very own “man cave” to work in.

But I bet I’m not the only one that’s going to make some changes.

Lockdown has given businesses an insight into how remote working can really, well - work - and I think this is going to have a major impact on how we as a culture do business moving forward.

Running an office is costly. Now businesses have seen that you can do the same work with the same team remotely, why would they keep spending tens of thousands of pounds each year on an office building?

And workers have experienced the benefits of working from home. Will the option of remote working be a big influencing factor for people applying for jobs? I think so.

So how about you? Has working from home been a blessing or a strange form of torture? Will you be changing your office arrangements when the lockdown is lifted? I’d love to hear your plans…
