iBiotech Ltd., a Wolverhampton-based biotechnology startup, has experienced remarkable growth and recognition in the past year. Founded by Dr. Brian Johnston and Mr. Guy Cheema, the company has successfully transformed from a concept into an award-winning enterprise.

iBiotech's primary focus is on sustainable technological innovations, particularly in the areas of bioleather and polymer synthesis for Parkinson's Disease drug delivery. A significant milestone was securing Innovate UK funding in 2023, which enabled the company to:

• Scale up bioleather production: Develop customized hardware and accelerate the synthesis of raw materials.

• Showcase achievements: Host a successful dissemination event at the University of Wolverhampton, attracting a diverse audience.

• Secure intellectual property: File a patent application for their bioleather technology.

Additionally, iBiotech has secured funding from Sky's the Limit, an American company that supports entrepreneurs and small businesses. Through Sky's the Limit's accelerator program, iBiotech participated in a competitive pitching competition, where they presented their bioleather technology to over 250 Hewlett-Packard members. The company successfully showcased a range of potential applications for their bioleather, including cardholders and bags, and received positive feedback from the audience.

This year iBiotech have also completed a 4 month programme with MSDUK, and earned a one year membership and they secured Enterprise Nation funding, enabling them to continue supporting local charities.

iBiotech's commitment to sustainability is evident in their pursuit of a truly circular economic vegan leather system. The company is currently partnering with a company that originated in Birmingham, with the aim to scale up production and explore new applications.
