iBiotech LTD (a startup company based in Wolverhampton) were nominated for Innovation of the Year at The Technology Supply Chain Awards Ceremony 2024.
Wolverhampton-based start-up iBiotech Ltd. has been recognised for its innovative approach to sustainable fashion. The company was recently nominated for the Innovation of the Year award at the 2024 Technology Supply Chain Awards Ceremony. The black-tie event was held at the Eastside Rooms in Birmingham, and was sponsored by Ryan (Headline) and University College Birmingham, Starting Point Recruitment and Walk Through Walls and Gary Sambrook (Diamond sponsors).
Highly commended attendees included, Hockley Mint for Manufacturing Innovator of the Year and Alucast Ltd for Net Zero Innovator of the Year. In Health Tech, Black Space Technology won the Health Tech Innovator of the Year, in a very competitive group!
Winners included, Construction Innovator of the Year XYZ Reality and New Innovation of the Year Flux Aviation.
For iBiotech is this nomination highlights their groundbreaking work in developing bio-based, vegan leather alternatives. iBiotech's innovative vegan leather is a testament to the company's commitment to sustainability and ethical fashion. Over the past year, iBiotech has developed a material that mimics the look and feel of traditional leather without the environmental impact. The company has also filed a patent, safeguarding its intellectual property and securing future growth.
The next stage for the company is scaling up production, which is being done through industrial partnerships that have the potential to generate more jobs. iBiotech has also successfully completed two Innovate UK projects over the past year, further demonstrating its innovative capabilities. In a short time, the company has forged strong collaborations with universities in the UK and Europe, including the University of Wolverhampton, the University of Milan, and supporting agencies such as SPEED (based at the University's Science Park). By utilising these facilities, iBiotech has saved tens of thousands in R&D costs.
As the company continues to grow and attracts interest from abroad, iBiotech is poised to make a significant impact on the global fashion market.
