Important Update for UK Companies: Transition to Software-Only Filing by March 2025

UK companies must switch to software-only filing for accounts by March 2025.
In line with the reforms introduced under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act, Companies House will soon require all UK businesses to file their accounts exclusively through approved third-party software. By March 2025, both web-based and paper filing options will be fully discontinued, making software-only submissions the new standard for all companies. This change represents a significant modernization of the filing system, designed to enhance security, efficiency, and the accuracy of data handling. It is crucial for businesses, whether filing directly or through agents, to ensure they have the necessary software solutions in place to remain compliant. Key Dates to Note:
- 2024–2025: Transition period for companies to adopt third-party software for account filings.
- By March 2025: Mandatory software-only filing will be enforced, and Companies House will no longer accept web-filing. To avoid disruption and ensure compliance with this important change, businesses should begin updating their systems now and familiarize themselves with the new software requirements.
