What does that look like in practice? Well, in 2021...

Our approach to supporting local businesses was multi-pronged and included supporting growing businesses through our AIM for GOLD programme, hosting a number of virtual events, including our Regeneration focused event during the 2021 Black Country Business Festival, providing bespoke 1-2-1 support, playing an important role on the hosting of Stage Two of the 2021 Women’s Tour of Britain bicycle race, delivering our Business Outreach programme (that saw us engage with business on Industrial estates across Walsall Wood, Aldridge and Brownhills), and in partnership with local partners providing covid-19 specific support to businesses.

The team have supported hundreds of local businesses this year including pre-starts, start-up’s, strategic companies, and foreign owned firms. In terms of the aforementioned AIM for GOLD programme, the team has helped local SME’s secure in access of £200k in ERDF grants, with matched private sector investment exceeding £400k. AIM for GOLD continues to be one of most popular business support programmes.

Premises searches and relocation support forms an important part of the teams’ reactive engagement; with enquiries serviced through our growing network of local and national agents, property owners, landlords, and data held on our purpose built CRMS.

Working alongside external partners such as, the Black Country Growth Hub, West Midlands Growth Company, BC LEP, Black Country Chamber of Commerce, Best of Walsall, Walsall College, and Gone Fishing we will continue in 2022 to deliver bespoke support to businesses from every sector in Walsall.
