IPU has joined the Armed Forces Covenant and has been given a Bronze Award from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme.

IPU is thrilled to announce that we have joined the Armed Forces Covenant and have been awarded a Bronze Award from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS).

Our commitment was signed in front of the entire company at our quarterly meeting. We were joined at IPU by Wing Commander Robert Williams and Graham Whitehouse, Regional Employer Engagement Director, for the signing.

Graham Whitehouse said: “I am delighted IPU have joined the Armed Forces Covenant. It’s a fantastic way to recognise current and ex-military personnel both within IPU and beyond into the local community. It is not just a badge to display on a website. It has a huge amount of benefits, including specific training opportunities, activities happening throughout the year and even family fun days.”

Louise Hazel, IPU’s MD said of IPU joining the Covenant: "We’re not an organisation that just celebrates Armed Forces Day for vanity. It is a part of who we are as a business, so we have joined to show our commitment to the Armed Forces Community.

We recognise the value of Serving Personnel, both Regular and Reservists, Veterans and military families to our business and our country. We’ve also joined in recognition of our own team."

We currently employ 6 ex-military personnel, in numerous different roles, including Fuel Technicians, Workshop Engineer, Management and Sales. We also have 1 employee currently in the Reserves.

They bring with them determination, a fantastic work ethic and willingness to sacrifice time at home, self-reliance, and the desire to do a great job. They are all brilliant members of our team.

Joining the Covenant is another way of us demonstrating one of our Company Values: Brilliant People. We’re committed to hiring and retaining the best talent because we know they are our biggest asset.
