Dudley Building Society has encouraged everyone not to panic in spending or exchanging their £10 notes by Thursday 1st March 2018, in readiness for The Bank of England withdrawing legal tender status of the old £10 note. The new polymer £10 note has been in circulation since the 14th September 2017 and features novelist Jane Austen.
The Society, with branches located in Brierley Hill, Gornal, Kingswinford, Perton and Dudley Town Centre are encouraging everyone to check behind their sofas, in their piggy banks and in old jackets or jeans pockets, to look for any old £10 notes. The Society will continue to accept the old notes within the coming weeks after the withdrawal date, whether they are a member of the Society or not.
Head of Operations, Raj Bains, said: "The deadline seems to have crept up on a number of people. We will be in a position to exchange old £10 notes for a number of weeks either by a direct swap in branch or by putting those spare £10 notes in to a savings account. We aren't stipulating that people need a Dudley Building Society account as we are more than happy to offer the service to the wider community."
