Juniper Training looking forward to continued growth in 2025

We spoke to the company's CEO Lesley Holland.

Independent training provider Juniper plans to continue expanding into new areas and is in the process of opening a new training centre in Leeds. Lesley Holland, CEO, explains how the company is ready to support businesses to give more training and employment opportunities.

What have been your company’s key achievements in 2024?

Our biggest achievement was to recover to pre-pandemic numbers. We have increased the number of students we support each year by around 40 per cent and our achievement rates recovered to meet the target that the Government has set for ITPs for 2026. We have also expanded our SEN programmes in line with local demand.  We are also proud to have won two awards in 2024, the promoting apprenticeships Signature awards and national construction apprenticeship provider of the year at the AAC Awards.

How will you be looking to grow in 2025?

Although not at the same rate as 2024, we are looking forward to continued growth in 2025. We continue to expand into new areas and are in the process of opening a new training centre in Leeds. We also plan to expand our construction training offer to include commercial courses and to meet the needs of local employers, and further expansion of our provision that supports young people who have educational needs.

What are some of the challenges you expect to face in 2025, and how are you planning to tackle them?

We expect to see continuing demand for our 16-19 programmes, due to the increased not in employment, education or training (NEET) numbers. Our problem is likely to be saying no to some of these, due to not having sufficient funding to be able to accommodate them all. We very rarely say no!

What do you think Black Country businesses can look forward to in 2025?

Although there is some uncertainty around us having a new Government, I think the Black Country has much to look forward to. The economy continues to improve, and there is reportedly significant infrastructure development planned that should also mean further reasons to be positive.
