Reacting to the latest Labour market data, published by the Office for National Statistics this morning, Sarah Moorhouse, CEO at the Black Country Chambers of Commerce said:

“The labour market remains a significant challenge for employers who tell us they are struggling with skills shortages, higher wage costs and the imminent hike in employment taxes.

“This means businesses are remodelling their recruitment and staffing plans. Whilst unemployment is currently stable latest research suggests this is likely to change in the months ahead and the full impact may not be seen until later in the year.

“On behalf of our members I’m calling on the government to act now to minimise costs for businesses and tackle the ongoing skills crisis – giving firms the tools they need to invest, recruit and grow.” ?
