The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust's Children and Neonatal Services interactive open day event has been hailed a huge success.
The event was held to give registered and student nurses a taste of what life in Children and Neonatal Services is like, and the opportunity to be interviewed for a vacancy.
On the day, participants had the opportunity to meet the teams working at New Cross Hospital and community areas as well as visit the different departments.
A shuttle bus tour provided potential candidates with the opportunity to experience the wide range of community services provided, and to view the health visitor team in operation at a Strengthening Families Hub and the Community Children and Neonatal Services working at the Gem Centre.
Participants also had the opportunity to attend training sessions and nurse education teams provided further opportunities for candidates to learn about how their careers can be further developed and enhanced.
The event, which was held on June 23rd 2018, welcomed 47 attendees who were keen to learn more about working for the Trust.
Of the 47 who attended, 18 people had successful interviews on the day and were offered full time nursing posts. Participants were able to sign up to work for the NHS Bank and a further two interview dates were arranged.
Julie Plant, Senior Matron of the Children's Services Directorate, said: "The event was a massive success.
"There was a palpable buzz from candidates who thought that our services and the opportunities for their development were excellent, but also from our current staff who demonstrated such pride in their work and an amazing commitment to the organisation and to the children, young people and families of Wolverhampton and surrounding areas."
Professor Ann Marie Cannaby, Chief Nurse for The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, said: "It was great news to hear we offered 18 nurses substantive posts and we look forward to welcoming them at the Trust soon.
"Well done to all staff involved in making the open day such a huge success."
