RMIG employees celebrate English-speaking course success

Walsall College has delivered English-language training to employees at RMIG Automotive.

Wolverhampton manufacturer, RMIG Automotive is celebrating a bright future after recently taking over United Automotive and equipping their shopfloor staff with new English language skills.

 

30 of the 120 staff have completed an English language course delivered onsite by Walsall College.  The company is now looking at expanding the training to other staff.

 

The training is part of a Midlands Engine Partnership pilot project to support speakers of other languages so employers can access the right skills for their business.

 

Konstantina Kreouzi, HR Manager at RMIG Automotive said: “These English language courses are a crucial part of our company’s staff development programme and plans for growth.  Not only is effective communication essential to all our business operations, it also enhances our staff wellbeing. 

 

She continued: “With their enhanced skills, our staff are now better-placed to deliver our further business ambitions.”

 

The Midlands Engine Partnership aims to test new innovative ways of delivering improved English language skills that lead to better access to work and career prospects for the individual, along with enhanced productivity outcomes for employers.  The project is a coalition of Councils, Combined Authorities, Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEP), Universities and businesses across the region, who are actively working with the Government to present the Midlands as a competitive and compelling area that is attractive to people in the UK and abroad.

 

Geetanjali Bhucher, Curriculum Manager for ESOL at Walsall College, added: “The pilot is an exciting opportunity for employers to address any language barriers they may experience within their workforce, whilst ensuring that staff reach their full potential by enhancing their communication skills.”
