At SPR, we believe in doing business with purpose—supporting the community, championing great causes, and making a difference where it matters. On Saturday, we were proud to sponsor a truly special event hosted by the One Thousand Trades Group at Moseley Rugby Club.

With over 350 invited guests, the event was held in aid of Fisher House, a charity supporting injured service personnel and their families during recovery at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. Thanks to the generosity of those who attended, an incredible £9,000 was raised on the day.

We were in fantastic company, joined by a host of distinguished guests including Deputy Lieutenants Dr Beverly Lindsay OBE and Ninder Johal, the Consulate General of Romania, senior Zimbabwean diplomats, the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Birmingham (fondly referred to as “Ken & Barbie”), Councillor Ian Ward, and former MPs Amanda Solloway and Gary Sambrook.

The day was brought to life by the brilliant Tim Stimpson, former England and British & Irish Lions player, and the ever-capable Amy Deakin, Chief of Staff. The atmosphere was further lifted by a thrilling 69–14 victory for Moseley over Darlington Mowden Park—a fitting end to an uplifting day.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to Prof Paul Cadman, Richard Fallon, and Amy Deakin—whose vision, leadership and tireless efforts made the event the huge success it was. Your commitment to creating lasting impact through community and charity work is truly inspiring.

We’re also grateful to those who contributed to the raffle and auction, donating signed memorabilia, experiences, and hospitality packages—all of which played a key role in reaching the fundraising target.

This event is part of a wider movement to support Birmingham as it prepares to host the Invictus Games in 2027—highlighting the city’s commitment to inclusion, resilience, and community.

To the volunteers, the team at Moseley Rugby Club, fellow sponsors and every individual who showed up and supported—thank you. SPR was proud to be a part of it.

If you were there, we’d love to hear your favourite moments.
